The United States has rejected India’s protest over a missile attack on a commercial ship, according to reports.ย
The US also refused to apologise for the deaths of Indian crew members killed during the incident.
Rubio Defends US Position
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio told India that commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz must follow instructions issued by US forces. He also warned that violations of the Strait of Hormuz closure would not be tolerated.
Furthermore, Rubio said the United States would act against illegal shipments of Iranian oil moving through the region.
India Raises Crew Deaths With Washington
Meanwhile, the Indian Foreign Minister contacted his US counterpart to protest the deaths of three Indian Navy personnel. India raised concerns over the missile attack and sought accountability for the loss of its personnel.
However, reports said the United States maintained its position and declined to issue an apology. The development comes amid heightened tensions and increased security concerns in the Strait of Hormuz.
