The United States has decided to intensify attacks on Iran. The US officials have informed Israel about further military operations against Iran in the days ahead. Washington prefers Israel to stay out of the current phase, however, both allies continued to assess possible Iranian retaliation.
US seeks to limit regional escalation
According to KAN, joint security assessments suggest Iran could launch attacks on Israel. Such action could prompt Israeli strikes inside Iran, a scenario Washington hopes to avoid. Meanwhile, the United States has increased its military presence across the region. The report said additional equipment and munitions reached Israel during the past 24 hours to support US operations. More than 10 American aerial refueling aircraft also arrived from Europe and Qatar’s Al Udeid Air Base.
Separately, Walla reported that the United States plans to deploy up to 100 aerial refueling aircraft to Israeli military bases and Ramon Airport. Some aircraft could also operate from Ben Gurion International Airport.
US strikes continue as shipping concerns deepen
US forces launched a ninth consecutive day of strikes against Iran on Monday. US Central Command said the latest operations targeted Iran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. Meanwhile, Iran’s Tasnim news agency reported missile strikes on several cities, including Tabriz and Chabahar.
Iran also claimed that two oil tankers exploded and became immobilized while transiting the Strait of Hormuz. Additionally, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Washington would continue targeting Iran while it threatened international shipping through the strategic waterway.
