US Muslim Congresswoman Ilhan Omar strong reacted to the US agents raid at her home yesterday. She said that the raid was carried out three weeks ahead of her participation in the midterm polls in the United States.
US federal agents searched the Washington, D.C., home of Democratic Congresswoman Ilhan Omar on Monday, October 12, 2026, as part of an ongoing criminal investigation, intensifying political tensions ahead of the November midterm elections.
Ilhan Omar, who was born in Somalia and represents Minnesota’s Fifth Congressional District, strongly criticised the operation. She accused President Donald Trump’s administration of weaponising federal law enforcement against political opponents.
The congresswoman also described the search as another attempt to intimidate her and vowed to continue speaking out against the administration.
The operation triggered an immediate backlash from senior Democrats, who questioned its timing just weeks before the November 3 elections. They described the search as deeply disturbing and raised concerns about the potential misuse of government powers.
Trump, meanwhile, denied involvement in the operation, saying the matter was for the Justice Department to handle.
Agents from Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), the investigative arm of the Department of Homeland Security, conducted the early-morning operation under a court-authorised search warrant. However, the Justice Department did not disclose detailed information about the investigation.
According to US media reports, the probe may involve alleged immigration fraud connected to paperwork submitted by Omar’s late father when she was a child. Authorities have not publicly established wrongdoing by the congresswoman, and no charges against her were announced following the search.
The search has intensified scrutiny of the administration’s treatment of political opponents as the closely watched midterm elections approach.
