Hundreds of US Jewish activists staged a peaceful occupation of New York’s Statue of Liberty, urging an end to Israel’s “genocidal bombardment” of Gaza’s civilians and a ceasefire.
These activists, part of the Jewish Voice for Peace group, wore black T-shirts with messages like “Jews demand ceasefire now” and “Not in our name.” They displayed banners with slogans such as “The whole world is watching” and “Palestinians should be free” at the base of this iconic New York landmark.

This demonstration is the latest in a series of pro-Palestinian protests in the United States during the ongoing conflict, including a recent large gathering in Washington, DC, and an occupation of Grand Central station in Manhattan with similar demands.
Additionally, pro-Palestinian protesters, some from US Jewish organizations, caused a shutdown of the Brooklyn Bridge, linking Manhattan to the diverse borough of Brooklyn across the East River.
