US Vice President JD Vance said that Washington was investigating an airstrike that Iran claimed hit a wedding gathering.
“We’re investigating it because obviously we care. We want to know,” Vance told reporters during a White House briefing.
He added that the United States would examine the incident if its military made a mistake during ongoing operations in Iran.
Vance said the US military learns from mistakes and works to improve its operations after such incidents.
Meanwhile, Vance said Washington would not hold talks with Tehran unless Iran stopped attacking commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
“They’ve got to stop. It’s that simple,” he told reporters.
The comments came as tensions continued between Washington and Tehran amid ongoing military operations and growing concerns over maritime security.
Trump rejects claims of ammunition shortages
Separately, US President Donald Trump rejected claims that American forces had run short of ammunition during military operations in Iran.
Trump criticized people and media outlets that repeatedly claimed the United States faced ammunition shortages.
In a statement on Truth Social, Trump said the US maintained vast supplies of medium- to high-grade ammunition.
He also said Washington possessed more ammunition than it could use during the operation in Iran.
Furthermore, Trump argued that the United States had enough supplies for any other potential war.
He strongly criticized what he described as inaccurate reporting about American military capabilities.
