The U.S. Embassy in Islamabad launched the “Let Freedom Ring” Liberty Bell display on Thursday. The exhibition opened at Lok Virsa Museum during a special ceremony.
U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Andy Halus attended the event. Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture Aurangzeb Khan Khichi also participated.
The launch marked a cultural partnership between the U.S. Mission and Pakistani artists. Moreover, the initiative celebrated the United States’ 250th anniversary of independence.
Pakistani Artists Showcase Freedom Through Creative Expressions
The U.S. Mission’s Public Diplomacy Section led the project through its Lincoln Corners network. As part of the initiative, 16 Pakistani artists created painted replicas of the Liberty Bell.
Each artist answered a central question through artwork. They expressed their personal interpretation of freedom using unique designs.
As a result, the exhibition features 16 colorful bells. Each piece reflects a distinct Pakistani perspective on a value linked to American history.
The display will remain open from July 23 to July 27, 2026. Visitors can view the bells at Lok Virsa Museum and Pakistan Monument Museum.
Officials Highlight Cultural Exchange and Shared Values
Speaking at the ceremony, Andy Halus emphasized the importance of artistic expression. He said Pakistan and the United States share a strong belief in creativity and freedom.
Furthermore, he praised Lok Virsa for preserving Pakistan’s cultural heritage. He added that the exhibition connects America’s story of freedom with Pakistan’s artistic traditions.
Meanwhile, Minister Khichi welcomed the initiative and appreciated cultural cooperation. He noted that art and cultural exchanges strengthen relations between both countries.
The “Let Freedom Ring” campaign forms part of the Freedom 250 program. The year-long global initiative commemorates the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Declaration of Independence.
Additionally, the campaign highlights values such as freedom, innovation, and excellence. Therefore, organizers hope the exhibition will encourage dialogue and cultural understanding.
