Punjab government expects chief minister’s US trip to strengthen cooperation in artificial intelligence, technology, investment and economic development
LAHORE: US Consul General Stetson Sanders met Punjab Chief Minister’s Adviser Ali Dar in Lahore on Tuesday and discussed bilateral cooperation, with particular focus on Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s upcoming visit to the United States.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the significance of the planned visit and opportunities to strengthen engagement between Punjab and the US in several emerging sectors.
Ali Dar said Maryam Nawaz’s visit could open new avenues for bilateral cooperation and partnerships, particularly in investment, technology, artificial intelligence and economic development.
He described the upcoming trip as an important opportunity to present Punjab’s economic and technological potential to American investors, companies and institutions.
Punjab Seeks Stronger AI Partnerships
Meanwhile, Dar said developing Punjab into a global hub for artificial intelligence remained an important component of the chief minister’s vision for the province.
He maintained that stronger cooperation with the United States could help Punjab attract world-class technology, expertise and investment while accelerating its digital transformation.
Furthermore, Dar said artificial intelligence and modern technologies would play an increasingly important role in Punjab’s economic future.
He added that the provincial government intended to deepen engagement with American partners in these areas.
Investment and Technology Cooperation in Focus
Dar said the Office of AI Punjab was already working to promote knowledge exchange, technology partnerships and artificial intelligence cooperation with the United States.
According to him, such collaboration could strengthen Punjab’s emerging technology ecosystem while creating new investment and development opportunities.
The chief minister’s upcoming visit, he added, could provide further momentum to these initiatives by connecting Punjab with technology companies, investors and institutions in the US.
Dar expressed confidence that Maryam Nawaz’s visit would positively contribute to Punjab’s AI ecosystem and improve prospects for foreign investment.
The meeting highlighted technology-driven development as a growing area of Punjab-US engagement, with both investment and artificial intelligence expected to feature prominently during the chief minister’s forthcoming American visit.
