ISLAMABAD: United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres strongly condemned the suicide attack on JUI-F’s convention in Bajaur. The suicide blast killed 54 JUI-F workers and injured many others last Sunday.
Antonio Guterres, the UN Secretary-General, called on the authorities to hold accountable those responsible for this violence. He said the bombing resulted in the death of at least 54 people and left dozens injured.
The UN Deputy Spokesperson Farhan Haq read out a statement on behalf of the Secretary-General. In the statement, Guterres extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and wished a prompt recovery to those injured.
The UN chief urged the Pakistani authorities to bring those responsible to justice.
Additionally, he denounced all instances of terrorism and deliberate targeted attacks in Pakistan against civilians.
Daesh claims responsibility to attack, FIR registered
Meanwhile, the death toll from the tragic suicide attack in Bajaur surged to 54. Daesh claimed responsibility for the deadly attack. However, Bajaur police have registered an FIR of the bombing against unknown terrorists.
The First Information Report (FIR) includes various provisions, including anti-terrorism measures, stating that the blast occurred at 4:10 pm.

According to District Health Office (DHO) Dr. Faisal, the death toll has increased to 46 as three of the injured individuals succumbed to their injuries. He mentioned that the relatives of the deceased are identifying bodies and taking them with them.
Dr. Faisal has also informed us that the hospital is currently holding eight bodies for identification as they remain unidentifiable at the moment.
Corps commander, IGFC visit injured
The corps commander and inspector general frontier corps (IGFC) Bajaur reached Peshawar today.
They visited the injured individuals of the blast at the hospital and inspected the blast site.
The authorities over there briefed the two senior officials about the blast. The corps commander said, โIn this hour of grief, we, the Pakistan Army, stand side by side with the people of Bajaur.โ
โTerrorism is a scourge that needs to be eradicatedโ, said the IGFC.
A day earlier, a suicide bomber set off explosives at the workers’ convention of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) in the Bajaur district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P).
The blast occurred during the convention held under a canopy at Dubai Market in Khar Tehsil, according to police and witnesses. As soon as JUI-F District Amir Maulana Abdul Rasheed reached the stage, the explosion took place.
