Fires Erupt at Key Energy Sites Across Multiple Regions
Ukraine launched a series of coordinated overnight drone attacks targeting Russian energy infrastructure across several regions, causing fires and disruption at key facilities, according to Russian officials and state media reports.
The most significant strike hit the port city of Taganrog in Russiaโs Rostov region, where drones reportedly struck a tanker, a fuel storage tank, and an administrative building. As a result, a major fire broke out at the port facility.
Rostov Governor Yury Slyusar confirmed the attack, stating that emergency services responded immediately to contain the blaze. He added that authorities were assessing the full extent of the damage.
Meanwhile, two civilians sustained injuries after a drone struck a private residence in Taganrog. Medical teams provided treatment at the scene, while local officials launched inspections of affected areas.
Russian authorities also reported that air defense systems intercepted multiple drones across several districts of the Rostov region during the overnight assault.
Moscow and Kyiv Exchange Attacks as Tensions Escalate
In addition to the strike on Taganrog, Ukrainian drones reportedly targeted energy facilities in Krasnodar Krai, Yaroslavl, and Volgograd. Reports indicated that fires broke out at fuel storage sites, while operations at an oil refinery in Volgograd were temporarily disrupted.
At the same time, Russia launched a large-scale aerial attack against Ukraine, deploying dozens of drones and ballistic missiles overnight. Ukrainian officials reported damage to energy infrastructure in Zaporizhzhia, leaving thousands of residents without electricity.
Furthermore, authorities in the Sumy region reported damage to homes, vehicles, and public infrastructure following Russian strikes.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned that intelligence reports suggest Russia may be preparing a new large-scale offensive. Consequently, he urged citizens to remain vigilant and called on international partners to accelerate military assistance.
The latest exchange of attacks underscores continuing tensions between Moscow and Kyiv as both sides intensify operations against strategic infrastructure and military-related targets.
