ISLAMABAD: MQM’s two federal ministers, Minister of Law Faroogh Naseem and Information Minister Amin ul Haq have resigned from the cabinet to support Opposition in the no-confidence move against Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Both the MQM ministers have sent their resignations to the Prime Minister’s Office.
Before these resignations, leaders from the opposition parties and MQM-P drafted an agreement at the Parliament Lodges and announced it to media. Opposition and MQM leaders are holding a press conference at 4pm today to share with media the nature of their agreement.
MQM-P Senator Faisal Subzwari has also confirmed this development, first in a tweet and then in an interaction with reporters.
PP’s Bilawal Bhutto Zardari retweeted Subzwari’s statement and then tweeted the same message in English and congratulated the nation.
Asif Ali Zardari, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Shehbaz Sharif from the joint opposition and Khalid Maqbool, Amir Khan, and Wasim Akhtar from MQM-P met at the Parliament Lodges. Other leaders from the three parties, as well as from the JUI-F, were also present.

Meanwhile, PTI’s dissidents group led by Aleem Khan, has openly refused to vote for Chaudhary Pervez Elahi as PTI’s candidate for the Punjab chief minister.
Khalid Mahmood, a member of Aleem Khan’s group, told media that their members have decided not to support Chaudhary Pervez Elahi for the position of CM Punjab. This development was already expected because of a rift between Chaudhries and Aleem Khan group.
