Turkiye has defended its close relationship with Pakistan amid concerns raised in India. Turkish officials said their friendship with Pakistan should not trouble any country. The remarks came during discussions on regional diplomacy and international relations.
Speaking in Singapore, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan addressed questions regarding Ankara’s ties with Pakistan. He delivered the comments during a lecture at the International Institute for Strategic Studies. According to reports, Fidan emphasized that Turkiye’s partnership with Pakistan does not target any third country.
Turkiye Rejects Concerns Over Bilateral Relations
Fidan described relations between Turkiye and Pakistan as close and brotherly. However, he stressed that such cooperation should not be interpreted as hostility toward India. Furthermore, he stated that Ankara maintains its foreign relations independently. Therefore, friendly ties with Pakistan should not create concerns for other nations.
The Turkish foreign minister also highlighted that many countries enjoy positive relations with Pakistan. Consequently, he questioned why India would view such partnerships as problematic. He argued that cooperation between sovereign nations should not automatically be seen as opposition to others.
