US President Donald Trump’s Board of Peace has proposed a $2.45 billion Gaza recovery plan covering 66 projects over the next six months.
The proposal was presented in New York on Wednesday as world leaders gathered for the United Nations General Assembly. The plan focuses on temporary housing, debris removal, infrastructure and economic recovery.
Gaza Recovery Plan Covers 66 Projects
The proposed projects include temporary shelters, public transport and infrastructure rehabilitation. The plan also includes measures aimed at supporting economic recovery across Gaza.
Nickolay Mladenov, the Board of Peace’s high representative for Gaza, urged members and stakeholders to support the proposal.
He acknowledged that discussions with Israel remain politically sensitive, particularly ahead of elections. He said progress was being made gradually despite the challenges.
Demilitarization Included in Proposal
The plan also calls for the demilitarization of Gaza. This includes provisions for Hamas to surrender its weapons and for Israeli forces to withdraw from parts of the territory.
Trump’s Board of Peace was initially established to oversee Gaza’s ceasefire and reconstruction following the war between Hamas and Israel.
Trump’s envoy Steve Witkoff and his son-in-law Jared Kushner also attended Wednesday’s meeting.
Gaza Damage Estimated at $35.2 Billion
The board estimates that damage across Gaza has reached $35.2 billion. It says the territory could require around $71.4 billion for recovery.
UN figures indicate that 84% of structures in Gaza had been damaged or destroyed by October 2025.
The recovery proposal comes amid continued international concern over Gaza’s humanitarian situation. French President Emmanuel Macron and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan have called for further action to address the conflict.
