US President Donald Trump has launched America.gov, an AI-powered platform designed to simplify how Americans access federal government services. The website is intended to provide a single online entry point for information and services currently spread across government agencies.
The platform uses a chatbot-style interface, allowing users to type questions and interact with the system online. While its capabilities remain limited at launch, the administration plans to expand the platform significantly in the future.
What Is America.gov Designed to Do?
America.gov aims to make government services easier to find through a conversational online system. Users can ask questions instead of navigating multiple government websites to locate relevant information.
According to Trump, the platform could eventually handle more complicated government tasks. These include applying for a new passport and accessing health and retirement benefits.
“We’re making it dramatically easier, faster, and more convenient to get what you need exactly when you need it,” Trump said at the launch event in Washington.
He described the initiative as a major change in how Americans interact with their government.
“It’s a restoration of America’s founding promise and it’s a reinvention of your government for the 21st century and beyond,” he said.
The administration also plans to connect federal agency websites with the new platform. Trump signed an executive order directing government agencies to integrate their websites with America.gov.
Joe Gebbia Leads the Platform’s Design
The America.gov platform was developed under Joe Gebbia, co-founder of Airbnb. Gebbia joined the Trump administration last year after taking on the newly created position of chief design officer.
His role has focused on improving the way people interact with government services. Consequently, America.gov has been designed around a simpler question-and-answer experience.
The platform is expected to bring information from different federal agencies into a more accessible digital interface. However, its full range of services has not yet been introduced.

The launch comes as Trump prepares to meet leading technology executives to discuss the rapid development of artificial intelligence.
