US President Donald Trump says he plans to declare the Strait of Hormuz US territory soon. Iran has rejected his threats and disputed Washington’s claims over the strategic waterway.

Trump also urged Americans to accept higher gasoline prices because of the conflict with Iran. He argued that increased fuel costs would support efforts to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons.

Iran’s central military command rejected Washington’s claims over the waterway. Officials described the American statements as baseless lies and fabrications.
