US President Donald Trump has urged Congress to prioritise approval of a $350 billion defence package when lawmakers return to Washington. He described the proposal as vital for maintaining America’s military strength.
Trump made the appeal in a post on his Truth Social platform. He also called on congressional leaders to accelerate legislative action.
Trump Calls Defence Bill Top Priority
Trump claimed the US military has never been stronger or more powerful. He said recruitment has reached historic levels ahead of schedule.
He also praised troop morale, describing it as the highest in recent years. Furthermore, he pointed to celebrations marking 250 years of American independence as evidence of military strength.
Trump said lawmakers should prioritise Reconciliation 3.0, which includes $350 billion in defence spending. He urged House and Senate leaders to move the measure through the Budget Committee quickly.
President Links Bill to National Security
Trump also backed the proposed Save America Act alongside the defence package. He argued that both measures should advance together.
According to Trump, swift approval would strengthen national security for future generations. He said the legislation would help ensure the United States remains secure and prepared.
The president urged congressional leaders to make the package their highest legislative priority. Congress is expected to consider the proposal after lawmakers return to session.
