Donald Trump on Friday unveiled a rendering of a limited-edition United States passport to commemorate the country’s 250th anniversary of independence.
Trump shared the passport design on his Truth Social platform with the message, “The USA’s new passport, which says, ‘Welcome, but be good!'”
The commemorative design features a portrait of Trump with a stern expression as he leans on his desk. It also includes his signature and the text of the Declaration of Independence in the background.
According to reports, the portrait appears to be based on an image captured by White House photographer Daniel Torok. The opposite page displays a painting of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776.
The passport also carries the inscription “United States of America 250” to mark the nation’s upcoming semiquincentennial celebration. Meanwhile, the White House shared the same rendering, describing it as the “Patriot Passport.”
Earlier, the US State Department announced plans to release a commemorative passport featuring custom artwork beginning on July 6. However, the department did not immediately comment on Trump’s unveiled design.
In April, a State Department official said the commemorative passports would be available only through in-person appointments in Washington. Officials also noted that availability would remain limited.
Trump has continued placing his personal branding on several government-related initiatives during his presidency. Consequently, banners featuring the president have appeared outside multiple federal buildings.
The US Treasury Department has also announced plans to place Trump’s signature on the one-dollar bill. Additionally, Trump previously added his name to the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts before a court ordered its removal.
If introduced as planned, the commemorative passport would make Trump the first sitting US president to appear in an American travel document. The State Department has not yet provided further details regarding its official release or distribution.
