Former President Donald Trump has announced plans to host a full-scale Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) event on the grounds of the White House, as part of the upcoming “America250” celebrations marking the United States’ 250th anniversary.
Speaking at the Iowa State Fairgrounds, Trump told supporters that the fight will be organised by UFC CEO Dana White — a longtime ally — and could draw as many as 25,000 spectators.
“Every one of our national parks, battlefields, and historic landmarks will host special events in honour of America250,” Trump said. “I even think we’re going to have a UFC fight — yes, a UFC fight on the White House lawn.”
Trump, a noted fan of mixed martial arts, emphasized the role of Dana White, calling him “great” and adding, “Does anybody watch UFC? We’re going to make history right on the White House grounds.”
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed the plan is “dead serious,” though details such as permits, staging, and coordination with the National Park Service remain unresolved.
The UFC match would be one of several high-profile events planned nationwide as part of America250, a semi-quincentennial celebration that will include both professional and amateur sports, cultural showcases, and public ceremonies.
Trump, who has regularly attended UFC events and maintains a close friendship with White, was prominently introduced by the UFC head at the final night of the 2024 Republican National Convention.
