ISLAMABAD: For the first time, a husband in Bajaur district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, took a historic step on Sunday by filing nomination papers for his wife, Sultanat Bibi, vying for a provincial seat in the district’s upcoming election.
Sultanat Bibi is determined to champion the cause of education, healthcare, and employment for women in her constituency.

She pledges to tackle the challenges confronted by women in the region head-on. She is the first woman to contest elections for a provincial assembly seat in KP.
Her husband expressed that Sultanat’s decision to contest the election stems from her dedication to advancing women’s development.
He highlighted the myriad issues women encounter in tribal areas, emphasizing Sultanat’s resolve to address these issues once elected in the polls scheduled for February 8 next year.
The deadline for nomination paper submissions for the general elections concluded today.
Notably, the Election Commission of Pakistan granted a two-day extension following requests from certain political parties. The ECP emphasized that political entities must also submit the requisite forms to the corresponding returning officers for specific seats.
