Rawalpindi City traffic police have intensified operations against vehicles and motorcycles displaying “applied for”, fake, or non-standard number plates. The campaign targets compliance with vehicle registration laws and ensures road safety.
Special Checks and Operations
Traffic authorities have established special checkpoints at major entry and exit points. Enforcement teams are actively patrolling different areas to identify violators. Vehicles with irregular plates are being stopped and inspected.
During the current month, police issued 1,755 challans to vehicles and motorcycles found using “applied for” or numberless plates. Officials warned that the crackdown will continue until compliance improves.
Impounding and Legal Action
Chief Traffic Officer Farhan Aslam instructed officers to impound vehicles displaying “applied for” plates. Vehicles will only be released once owners complete proper registration with the transport authorities.
Additionally, strict legal action will be taken against those using counterfeit or fabricated plates. Officers emphasized that a number plate is the legal identity of a vehicle. Concealing it violates traffic laws and endangers public safety.
Motorist Advisory
Traffic police have urged all vehicle owners to register their vehicles on time. Authorities also advised motorists to use number plates that meet prescribed legal specifications. Failure to comply may result in fines, impounding, and further legal penalties.
The crackdown highlights the importance of following traffic regulations and maintaining proper vehicle documentation. Motorists are encouraged to verify their registration status and avoid unapproved or temporary number plates.
Ensuring Road Safety and Compliance
Authorities say the campaign aims to improve road safety, prevent crimes involving unregistered vehicles, and maintain lawful vehicle identification. By enforcing registration rules, police ensure better monitoring and accountability for all vehicles on city roads.
Traffic officials plan to maintain the intensified checks until full compliance is observed. Motorists are advised to cooperate with enforcement teams and avoid penalties.
