Egyptian star secures lucrative contract as Turkish club confirms landmark transfer
TRABZON: Turkish Super Lig club Trabzonspor officially confirmed on Thursday the signing of Egyptian football superstar Mohamed Salah, completing one of the most significant transfers in the clubโs history.
The clubโs publicly listed football subsidiary announced the agreement in a regulatory filing submitted to Borsa Istanbul through Tรผrkiyeโs Public Disclosure Platform (KAP). According to the filing, Salah will receive a guaranteed package worth $19.6 million (โฌ17 million) per season.
Under the agreement, the 34-year-old forward will earn an annual salary of $11.5 million (โฌ10 million), while also receiving a signing bonus of $8 million (โฌ7 million) each season. In addition, the contract includes performance-related bonuses, although Trabzonspor has not disclosed the criteria or financial value attached to those incentives.
Commercial rights included in agreement
Beyond his playing contract, Salah will benefit from a separate image-rights agreement with the club. Trabzonspor confirmed that the Egyptian international will receive 20 percent of the revenue generated from merchandise carrying his name and sold through the clubโs official retail company.
The club also disclosed that it will pay an agency commission equivalent to five percent of Salahโs total gross remuneration, completing the financial framework of the transfer.
Earlier this week, Trabzonspor announced it had opened formal negotiations with Salah and released a promotional video showing the forward aboard a plane wearing the clubโs iconic claret-and-blue jersey bearing the number 61, a symbol closely associated with the city of Trabzon.
New chapter after Liverpool success
In the video, Salah greeted supporters by saying, โTrabzon, are you ready? I can hear you. See you very soon. Everywhere is Trabzon,โ echoing one of the clubโs most famous fan slogans.
The transfer marks the beginning of a new chapter in Salahโs illustrious career after his successful spell at Liverpool, where he established himself as one of the Premier Leagueโs greatest forwards.
Trabzonspor hopes the arrival of the Egyptian star will strengthen its domestic title ambitions while boosting the clubโs international profile, commercial revenue and global fan base. The signing is widely regarded as one of the most high-profile transfers ever completed in Turkish football.
