Toyota and Honda Lead Strong Recovery
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s auto industry saw mixed fortunes in October 2025, as Toyota Indus Motor Company (IMC) and Honda Atlas Cars recorded robust sales growth, while Suzuki suffered a steep decline, according to data from the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA) compiled by Topline Securities.
Toyota led the market with a 44% month-on-month increase, selling 4,529 units in October. Sales of Corolla, Yaris, and Cross surged 41% from September and 78% year-on-year, totaling 3,742 units. The Fortuner and IMV models also performed strongly, up 58% month-on-month and 83% annually, reaching 787 units.
Honda Atlas Cars (HCAR) followed with a 13% monthly and 72% yearly increase, selling 2,607 units in October. The steady demand for Civic and City models helped maintain the company’s upward trajectory amid improving market sentiment.
Suzuki Sales Plunge; Hyundai and Others Rise
In stark contrast, Pakistan Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC) experienced an 18% sales decline, dropping to 7,403 units in October. The slump was driven by weaker demand for Swift (-17%), Ravi (-84%), and Every (-28%) models. Suzuki’s overall volumes have been hit by production shifts and the discontinuation of older models like the Bolan.
Meanwhile, Hyundai Nishat Motors continued its upward trend, reporting an 82% year-on-year increase as Tucson and Elantra models gained traction.
Market Outlook: Overall Growth Despite Mixed Results
Pakistan’s total car sales rose 32% year-on-year and 1% month-on-month, reaching 17,333 units in October. Analysts attribute the growth to lower interest rates, easing inflation, and revived consumer confidence.
In the first four months of FY2025–26, total passenger car sales stood at 59,600 units, up 46% from the same period last year.
Sazgar Engineering Works (SAZEW) maintained stable performance, selling 1,379 units — a 38% annual increase despite a 3% monthly dip.
The motorbike and three-wheeler sector expanded 20% year-on-year and 4% month-on-month to 165,500 units, led by Atlas Honda’s record 140,000-unit sales. Tractor sales jumped 67% annually and nearly quadrupled from September, boosted by the Punjab Green Tractor Scheme.
Truck and bus sales also doubled year-on-year to 766 units, though slightly down 7% month-on-month.
