Lahore: A terrorism case has been registered against Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) chief Saad Rizvi and several senior party leaders following a violent attack on security forces in Muridke.
According to police officials, the case was filed by Sub-Inspector Muhammad Afzal at the City Muridke Police Station under 32 sections, including terrorism, murder, attempted murder, kidnapping, and robbery.
Senior TLP Leaders Named in FIR
The First Information Report (FIR) lists several prominent TLP figures, including Saad Rizvi, Anas Rizvi, Allama Farooq-ul-Hassan, Maulana Sajjad Saifi, and Mufti Wazir Ali.
Police confirmed that raids are underway to arrest those involved in the violent incident. Authorities emphasized that no one taking the law into their own hands will be spared, vowing firm legal action against all perpetrators.
Crackdown on Misinformation and Provocative Campaigns
Meanwhile, government agencies have launched a nationwide crackdown on individuals allegedly spreading misinformation and inciting unrest under the guise of protests.
Sources revealed that authorities have identified several social media users running disruptive campaigns on platforms such as X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, and WhatsApp.
Officials stated that a coordinated operation will begin tonight, targeting accounts promoting false or inflammatory content. The crackdown will reportedly span multiple cities, with over 200 arrests expected nationwide.
Authorities Step Up Monitoring of Social Media
Law enforcement agencies have compiled a list of individuals suspected of disseminating provocative or misleading material aimed at disturbing public order.
Special monitoring cells have been tasked with tracking fake accounts and identifying the sources of disinformation, particularly content designed to provoke violence or unrest.
Officials confirmed that security forces are working round the clock to maintain peace and prevent any attempt to incite chaos or damage public property.
Raids are expected to be conducted simultaneously across major urban centers, ensuring swift and decisive action against those violating the law.
