Three brothers died and another man suffered injuries in an improvised explosive device blast in Balochistanโs Dukki district on Sunday.
According to police officials, the explosion occurred in the Killi Bakhtiar Khan area of Loni tehsil. The blast struck a vehicle while it travelled through a riverbed. Consequently, local authorities rushed to the scene and launched an emergency response.
Victims Were Travelling for Farming Activities
Dukki Superintendent of Police Mansoor Ahmed Buzdar said the victims were heading to agricultural fields. However, the IED exploded during their journey, causing severe casualties.
Police identified the deceased brothers as Rehmatullah, Daurani, and Niamatullah, sons of Sultan. Meanwhile, Atiqullah, son of Maulvi Naik Muhammad, sustained injuries in the blast. Rescue teams shifted the bodies and the injured man to a nearby hospital for treatment and legal procedures.
Search Operation Underway After Blast
Following the incident, police launched a search operation across the affected area. Investigators also began collecting evidence to determine the circumstances surrounding the explosion.
Moreover, security personnel increased surveillance in nearby locations to prevent further incidents. Authorities continue examining the blast site and interviewing witnesses. Officials have not yet confirmed who planted the explosive device.
The incident occurred nearly two months after security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in the Loni area. During that operation, security forces killed three suspected militants after an exchange of fire.
At the time, security sources claimed the suspects had links to several attacks in the region. They also reported recovering weapons and explosives from the militants. Meanwhile, investigators are assessing whether any connection exists between the earlier operation and the latest blast.
Authorities have vowed to continue investigations and strengthen security measures in the district.
