ISLAMABAD: Thousands of tourists stranded in Mansehra’s Naran-Jalkhad and Jheel roads due to heavy rain have been shifted to Naran safely. In the prevailing situation, the district administration has advised tourists against travelling to northern areas.
Officials urged visitors to avoid such journeys for the next few days because of continued bad weather.
Meanwhile, the Met Office forecast intermittent rain in Rawalpindi and Islamabad on Tuesday.
It also warned that some areas could receive heavy downpours. Islamabad’s temperature was expected to reach 32 degrees Celsius.
Heavy rain disrupts life across Punjab
Rain also lashed several parts of Punjab, including Lahore, Gujranwala and surrounding districts, during the early hours of Tuesday.
Heavy showers flooded roads and submerged low-lying areas in Gujranwala for the second consecutive day.
Several areas, including Satellite Town, Model Town, Peoples Colony, Hafizabad Road, Sialkot Road and Chanda Qila, received heavy rain.
Similarly, rainwater submerged parts of Gujrat, while floodwater entered homes in Narowal.
Officials reported two feet of water on several roads, including Purani Kuchehry Road, Eidgah Road and Zafarwal Road.
Meanwhile, rain affected power supplies in Wazirabad and nearby areas after several GEPCO feeders tripped.
Rain also hit Kamonke, Shakargarh, Bhakkar, Kharian, Sarai Alamgir and Mandi Bahauddin.
Furthermore, the weather department forecast more rain across Islamabad, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab, with torrential showers possible in some areas.
