Abu Dhabi โ A third Pakistani national has died in the United Arab Emirates after debris from an intercepted ballistic missile fell in Abu Dhabi, authorities confirmed on Tuesday. The Abu Dhabi Media Office stated that the incident occurred in the Baniyas area after air defence systems successfully neutralized the incoming threat.
Incident highlights risks despite successful interception
According to officials, falling debris from the interception struck the area, resulting in the fatality. Authorities responded immediately and urged the public to rely only on verified information while avoiding rumours.
Although officials did not specify the missileโs origin, regional tensions have intensified in recent weeks. Iran has launched missile and drone attacks targeting US-linked sites across the Gulf following recent US-Israeli strikes.
Earlier, a similar incident in Dubaiโs Al Barsha area killed another Pakistani national when debris struck a vehicle. Additionally, a separate fatality occurred in Abu Dhabi on February 28 under comparable circumstances.
Rising toll and heightened security measures
Meanwhile, authorities confirmed that the overall death toll in the UAE since the escalation began has reached eight, including two soldiers. The remaining victims include civilians of Pakistani, Bangladeshi, and Palestinian origin.
Furthermore, UAE air defence systems have intercepted hundreds of threats, including 304 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles, and over 1,600 drones. Despite these successful interceptions, debris has continued to pose risks to civilians.
In response, officials have advised residents to remain vigilant and strictly follow safety instructions. Pakistan has also urged its citizens in the Gulf to exercise caution and adhere to official advisories.
Authorities emphasized that defence forces remain fully prepared to counter threats and safeguard national stability.
