Global analytics firm Newzoo has shared its latest report on the top-earning new game releases of 2026. The data covers the first three months of the year and highlights which titles attracted the most players and generated the highest revenue.
Three big games clearly stood out during this period. Resident Evil Requiem took the top spot overall, followed by Crimson Desert in second place and Pokémon Pokopia in third. MLB The Show 26 and WWE 2K26 rounded out the top five. Other strong performers included Marathon at sixth, Slay the Spire 2 at seventh, and the indie hit Mewgenics at eighth.
Crimson Desert Dominates PC Sales
When it comes to PC gaming, Crimson Desert performed exceptionally well. It claimed the number one position among new releases on PC, beating popular live-service games like Fortnite and Counter-Strike 2. Slay the Spire 2 also made it into the top five on PC.
Resident Evil Requiem has been successful on all platforms, being featured in several top ten charts, including overall revenues, PC game chart, and console game chart. This is how it became the only significant release of 2026 that was this successful at the moment. At the same time, Capcom games continue to show their great performance due to their popularity.
Live Services Games Keep Leading Monthly Active Players
All despite their impressive financial performance, none of these new games could make it into the list of top ten games by their monthly active players. Roblox, Candy Crush, and Minecraft continue dominating this chart.
It becomes clear from the report that although it is possible to earn much money within a short period of time with the help of new game releases, maintaining the interest of players to play your game is rather challenging.
