Woman Says She Met Suspect in Bangkok Two Years Ago
Rawalpindi police have registered a case after a Thai woman alleged that a man brought her to Pakistan on the promise of marriage and repeatedly sexually assaulted her.
The case was registered at Rawat Police Station following a complaint submitted by the woman.
According to the First Information Report, the woman met the accused, identified in media reports as Aamir Sohail, in Bangkok approximately two years ago.
The two reportedly developed a relationship before the man allegedly promised to marry her.
The woman told police that she later travelled to Pakistan after relying on that promise.
According to the complaint, they arrived in Pakistan approximately four months ago and began living in a rented apartment inside a private housing society in Rawalpindi.
The complainant alleged that the accused repeatedly sexually assaulted her during their stay and later refused to marry her.
The allegations remain under investigation and have not been proven in court.
Complainant Alleges Confinement, Violence and Loss of Money
The woman also accused the man of preventing her from freely leaving the apartment.
According to her complaint, she was allegedly subjected to physical violence during the period she stayed with him.
She further alleged that the accused took money belonging to her when he left the residence.
One report said the woman eventually managed to leave the apartment and seek medical attention before approaching police.
Police registered the case after receiving her statement.
Media reports said the case includes a rape allegation under Section 376 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
Investigators are expected to examine the complainant’s statement, medical evidence and other available material.
Police may also review travel records, communications between the two individuals and evidence connected to their residence in Rawalpindi.
Police Reportedly Arrest Named Suspect
According to police information cited by local media, the named suspect was later taken into custody.
The investigation has reportedly been transferred to a specialised investigation unit for further proceedings.
Authorities are expected to determine the circumstances in which the woman travelled from Thailand to Pakistan and whether the accused used a marriage promise to persuade her to make the journey.
Investigators will also examine her allegations of confinement, violence and repeated sexual assault.
The suspect has not been convicted, and the allegations will require proof through the legal process.
The case remains under investigation as police collect evidence and prepare further proceedings.
