Tecno has expanded its Spark 50 smartphone lineup with two new models, the Spark 50s and Spark 50C. Both devices introduce FreeLink 2.0, a communication feature that allows users to make calls and send text messages without cellular network coverage or an internet connection.
The technology enables peer-to-peer communication over distances of up to 1.5 kilometres under suitable conditions. Consequently, the feature could prove useful in remote areas, crowded venues and locations where conventional mobile networks become unavailable.
Display, Design and Performance Features
Both smartphones feature 6.78-inch HD+ LCD displays with 120Hz refresh rates, offering smoother scrolling and responsive visuals. However, the two models differ in processing power, durability, camera capabilities and battery performance.
The Spark 50s runs on MediaTek’s Dimensity 6400 processor and supports 5G connectivity. It offers 6GB or 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage and a dedicated microSD card slot that supports expansion up to 2TB.
Meanwhile, the Spark 50C uses the MediaTek Helio G81 chipset and supports 4G networks. It comes with 4GB of RAM and storage options of 64GB, 128GB and 256GB. Both phones run Android 16-based software, although their hardware specifications cater to different users.
Cameras, Batteries and Pricing Details
The Spark 50s features a 50-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front camera. Additionally, its 6,500mAh battery supports 45W fast charging, reverse wired charging and bypass charging.
In comparison, the Spark 50C includes a 13-megapixel rear camera, an 8-megapixel selfie camera and a 5,200mAh battery with 15W charging. It also offers dual stereo speakers, an infrared blaster and higher stated dust and water resistance ratings.
Tecno has priced the Spark 50s at approximately $211 for the 6GB model and $242 for the 8GB variant. However, the company has not announced the Spark 50C’s price or availability.
