Korean Drama Reaches Historic Streaming Milestone
Korean action drama Teach You a Lesson has achieved a major global milestone on Netflix.
The limited series has entered Netflix’s all-time Top 10 list for non-English television programmes. It secured the tenth position after recording 60.2 million views worldwide.
The drama also generated 643.3 million viewing hours. Its total runtime is 10 hours and 41 minutes.
Netflix calculates its all-time popularity rankings using the total number of views recorded during a title’s first 91 days of release. The latest figures place Teach You a Lesson alongside some of the platform’s most successful international productions.
The programme was released globally on June 5, 2026. It reached the historic ranking less than two months after its premiere.
Its rapid rise highlights the growing global demand for Korean television dramas. It also demonstrates the ability of Korean productions to attract audiences beyond their domestic market.
Action Drama Tackles Violence and Bullying in Schools
Teach You a Lesson follows the fictional Educational Rights Protection Bureau.
The government agency is created to protect teachers and students when serious misconduct threatens order inside schools.
The story focuses on inspectors who are sent into troubled educational institutions. They investigate bullying, violence, abuse and the misuse of power.
However, the officials do not rely only on traditional disciplinary methods. They use forceful and unconventional tactics to confront dangerous students, parents and other individuals.
The central characters include inspector Na Hwa-jin, played by Kim Moo-yul, and bureau founder Choi Gang-seok, portrayed by Lee Sung-min.
Jin Ki-joo appears as inspector Im Han-rim. Pyo Ji-hoon plays deputy director Bong Geun-dae.
The series is directed by Hong Jong-chan, who previously worked on Juvenile Justice. Lee Nam-kyu, known for Daily Dose of Sunshine, wrote the drama.
Its combination of school-based conflict, fast-paced action and social issues has helped the programme connect with viewers across multiple regions.
Korean Content Strengthens Its Netflix Dominance
The success of Teach You a Lesson has further strengthened South Korea’s position in Netflix’s international rankings.
Korean productions now occupy four places in the all-time Top 10 non-English television chart.
All three seasons of Squid Game currently dominate the first three positions.
The first season remains the most-watched non-English Netflix series with 265.2 million views. Season two stands in second place with 192.6 million views.
The third season holds the third position with 145.8 million views. Teach You a Lesson completes the Korean presence at number ten.
Other programmes on the list include Money Heist, Lupin and La Palma.
The achievement confirms that Korean entertainment remains a powerful force in the international streaming industry. Strong storytelling, distinctive characters and high production standards continue to draw viewers worldwide.
