Taylor Swift and Tom Cruise have sparked interest in Hollywood over their growing friendship after appearing together at several major events, including a recent Kansas City Chiefs game.
Cruise, 64, joined Swift and her husband, NFL star Travis Kelce, at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium for the Chiefs’ season-opening game against the Denver Broncos on September 14.
The actor sat beside Swift in Kelce’s suite as Kansas City secured a 31-10 victory.
Speaking later on the New Heights podcast, hosted by Travis and Jason Kelce, Cruise described the outing as the most enjoyable football game he had attended.
Cruise Says Swift Helped Him Understand Football
Cruise said Swift explained football formations and penalties to him as the game progressed, helping him follow the action.
“She was schooling me on football, for real,” Cruise said. He also praised Swift’s career and described her as a “genius”.
Furthermore, their connection reportedly stretches back to June 2024, when Cruise attended Swift’s Eras Tour concert in London. Reports said the two exchanged friendship bracelets during the event.
Cruise also reportedly attended Swift and Kelce’s wedding earlier this year.
Meanwhile, Cruise later discussed the football outing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, again praising Swift as a writer, musician and entertainer.
Public Appearances Spark Promotional Speculation
Entertainment journalist Rob Shuter reported that Cruise’s association with Swift could provide promotional benefits ahead of his upcoming film Digger.
An unnamed industry source suggested that appearances with Swift could increase Cruise’s exposure among younger audiences.
However, neither Cruise nor Swift has publicly characterised their friendship as a promotional arrangement.
Consequently, claims about a business strategy behind their appearances remain speculative.
Cruise’s Digger is currently scheduled to arrive in theatres on October 2.
