Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar has announced plans to revive the Pakistan Television (PTV) Drama and Film Academy. The initiative aims to provide young people with professional skills in filmmaking, drama production and digital content creation.
Tarar issued the directives while chairing a high-level meeting in Islamabad on Monday. Officials discussed modern training facilities, specialised courses and practical learning opportunities to strengthen Pakistan’s creative industries.
The minister said the academy’s revival and PTV Home’s revamping reflected the government’s commitment to developing the country’s media sector.
Pakistan to Introduce Advanced Colour Grading Training
Tarar announced that Pakistan would introduce advanced colour grading training for the first time. Previously, professionals had to travel abroad to access specialised training and modern facilities.
He said local colour grading facilities would benefit filmmakers and private production companies. Moreover, the initiative would help improve the technical quality of Pakistani films.
The minister also directed officials to launch a transparent pilot project with private-sector partners. This collaboration will ensure training programmes meet the changing requirements of the entertainment industry.
Modern Training Facilities Planned for Young Creators
The proposed academy will offer practical training in filmmaking, editing, drama production and digital content creation. Furthermore, students will receive professional guidance through modern editing suites, studio laboratories and technical equipment.
Officials also reviewed plans for modern classrooms, student workstations and specialised training facilities. The proposals include appointing qualified trainers and technical staff while developing a comprehensive curriculum.
Additionally, training programmes will focus on practical assignments, project development and portfolio preparation. Tarar said students’ creative projects would receive opportunities across PTV News and PTV Home.
The minister also emphasised making the academy financially sustainable. These measures aim to develop skilled professionals and strengthen Pakistan’s film and television production industry.
