Taekwondo champion and aspiring lawyer Isabelle Sava died unexpectedly at the age of 19, after suffering a cardiac arrest while asleep, according to a family friend.
Sava died on August 17, 2026. Her sudden death has shocked her family, friends and the sporting community.
Two days after her death, family friend Adriana Agache launched a fundraising campaign to support Savaโs parents with expenses following the tragedy.
Family Friend Reveals Cause of Death
According to Agache, Sava suffered an unexpected cardiac arrest while sleeping.
She said emergency responders made extensive efforts to revive the teenager but were unable to save her.
The family friend did not provide further information about what caused the cardiac arrest.
Agache said the fundraising campaign was created to help Savaโs parents manage the financial burden following their daughterโs sudden death.
She described Isabelleโs death as completely unexpected and said no amount of money could replace her or ease the familyโs grief.
Isabelle Savaโs Taekwondo Career
Sava had dedicated nearly a decade to taekwondo and eventually earned a second-degree black belt.
Her biggest sporting achievement came in 2022, when she competed at the World Taekwondo Championship in the Netherlands.
She won a silver medal in sparring, according to the International Taekwondo Federation.
The achievement marked an important milestone in her international sporting career and established her as a promising young taekwondo athlete.
Aspiring Lawyer With Strong Community Record
Alongside her sporting career, Sava was pursuing her education and was preparing to begin her second year of law studies at Queen Mary University of London.
She had also served as a police cadet and completed the Bronze and Silver stages of the Duke of Edinburghโs Award.
Her family and friends have remembered her as a young woman with a promising future across both academics and sport.
