The Swiss-based food company confirmed on Saturday that its shipment of 413,793 units of its new range of Kitkat chocolates was stolen during transit. The shipment weighed 12 tonnes. It was on its way from its production and distribution plants.
The stolen consignment was headed for Poland from central Italy and was supposed to be delivered to other countries along the way. However, Nestle did not mention where the truck was intercepted.
Steps to Track and Recover
Moreover, the authorities and Nestle are investigating the matter. The company is doing its best to locate the stolen shipment with the local authorities. The company also warned consumers that the stolen chocolate could end up being sold illegally in the European market.
However, the chocolate bars have a unique batch number. The company will be able to identify the stolen goods. โIf a match is found, the scanner will be given instructions on how to alert KitKat, which will then handle the evidence accordingly.โ
The consumers and retailers have been warned to look out for the stolen chocolate.
