The Supreme Court has rejected a second request seeking an early hearing of a contempt petition concerning the possible hospital transfer of PTI founder Imran Khan.
The petition was filed by Uzma Khan, who had requested an urgent hearing of the case. The Supreme Court Registrar’s Office, however, said the matter has already been scheduled for September 16.
Registrar’s Office Cites Pending Cases
In its response, the Registrar’s Office said there was no need for an immediate hearing because the contempt petition had already been fixed for a specific date.
The office noted that 94 contempt petitions are currently pending before the Supreme Court. It said cases are generally listed according to their turn under the court’s scheduling policy.
This is the second request for an early hearing of the petition that has been rejected by the Registrar’s Office.
Three-Member Bench to Hear Case
The Supreme Court has scheduled the matter for September 16 before a three-member bench.
The bench will be headed by Justice Shahid Waheed. Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan and Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim will also hear the petitions.
The case relates to legal concerns surrounding Imran Khan’s medical treatment and his possible transfer to a hospital.
