ISLAMABAD: On Monday, Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa directed officials to bring the petitioner before the court after he expressed a desire to withdraw his plea. The plea had sought the declaration of the February 8 elections as null and void, and the hearing was adjourned until February 21.
Brig (r) Ali Khan had approached the Supreme Court seeking orders for an investigation into alleged rigging and the organization of fresh elections. The chief justice instructed the concerned SHO to locate Brig (r) Ali Khan and present him before the three-member bench, which includes Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Musarrat Hilali.
Emphasizing that the top court would address the matter, Chief Justice Isa questioned whether individuals filed petitions solely for instant fame.

Pointing out that Brig (r) Khan had requested to withdraw the petition on the same day it was filed, the court raised concerns about whether seeking publicity was the primary motive behind such tactics.
The chief justice noted that the application had been widely publicized through the media and urged Brig (r) Khan to appear in court for the matter to be heard.
In a report, the apex court was informed that the petitioner could not be reached through the provided address or WhatsApp service.
Subsequently, the three-member bench issued orders stating they would not allow the Supreme Court to be used for ulterior motives. They issued a notice to the petitioner through the defense ministry and adjourned further hearing until February 21 (Wednesday).
