ISLAMABAD: A suicide blast near Islamabad district courts killed 12 people and injured nearly two dozen others. The blast ripped through the area near the District Judicial Complex in Islamabad on Tuesday.
According to police, the injured were quickly shifted to PIMS Hospital for medical treatment. Rescue teams, bomb disposal squads, and forensic experts reached the site within minutes and sealed off the area. Officials confirmed that evidence collection and a detailed investigation into the attack are underway.
Police Confirm Casualties and Investigation Details
Senior police officials at the scene verified that 12 people had died and 20 sustained injuries of varying severity. โThe area has been sealed, and evidence is being collected from the site,โ said a police spokesperson. Forensic teams are analyzing the composition and nature of the explosives, while investigators reportedly recovered the head of the suspected suicide bomber.
Security forces cordoned off nearby buildings and restricted access to ensure public safety. Witnesses described chaotic scenes as ambulances transported the wounded and police urged bystanders to evacuate the area.
Security Heightened Across Islamabad
Following the blast, authorities have tightened security measures across the capital, especially around government offices, courts, and high-security zones. Law enforcement agencies remain on high alert to prevent any potential follow-up attacks.
Initial media reports suggested a car cylinder blast, but later on, the deadly blast was an outcome of a suicide blast in G-11 district courts on Tuesday. More casualties are expected as some of the injured people are in critical condition, police said.
