Suicide Attack
In Dera Ismail Khan, a tragic suicide attack targeted a security forces’ convoy, resulting in the martyrdom of two personnel, Naib Subedar Yasir Shakeel and Sepoy Tahir Naveed, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The cowardly act, perpetrated by a vehicle-borne suicide bomber, underscored the ongoing threat of terrorism in the region. Both martyred soldiers hailed from Kohat district.
The ISPR affirmed its commitment to bringing those responsible for the attack to justice, emphasizing the resolve of security forces to eradicate terrorism.
Just the day prior, a significant development unfolded in Balochistan’s Panjgur district, where security forces conducted a successful operation based on intelligence inputs.
In the operation, notorious terrorist Chakar Liaquat was neutralized, and two of his associates sustained injuries during an exchange of fire.
Liaquat, wanted for his involvement in multiple terrorist activities, was eliminated, and weapons and ammunition were seized from his possession.
Meanwhile, Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir convened a meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad.
The discussions encompassed various aspects of national security, ongoing military operations, and foreign relations, with a particular focus on General Munir’s recent visit to Saudi Arabia.
The meeting provided an opportunity for the army chief to brief the prime minister on the outcomes of intelligence-based counterterrorism operations and other professional and operational matters concerning the Pakistan Army.
Additionally, the leaders exchanged views on the broader national and internal security landscape, reflecting on the current challenges and strategies to address them effectively.
The meeting underscored the importance of close collaboration between military and civilian leadership to safeguard the nation’s interests and ensure peace and stability.
