Syed Sameer Ahmed Appointed New COO of PCB

Syed Sameer Ahmed

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed Syed Sameer Ahmed as the new Chief Operating Officer (COO), a decision that was confirmed on Saturday, according to sources.

The appointment, which is part of the ongoing restructuring within the PCB, was made on the recommendation of PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi.

Syed Sameer Ahmed, who has an impressive background in administration, previously served as the Deputy Commissioner of Lahore and is currently working at the Prime Minister’s House.

His diverse experience in governance and management is expected to bring fresh perspectives to the PCB as it seeks to improve its operations and administration.

Meanwhile, Salman Naseer, the outgoing COO, has been reassigned to lead the Pakistan Super League (PSL) as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

In addition to this new role, Naseer will also serve as an advisor to the PCB Chairman, continuing his involvement in the cricket board’s decision-making processes.

Salman Naseer’s transition to PSL CEO marks a significant change, as he has been a key figure within the PCB, overseeing departmental directors and contributing to various administrative decisions.

This reshuffling within the PCB hierarchy is part of broader plans to restructure the organization. The PCB had been considering the creation of a new Managing Director role for Naseer, a position that would allow for even more oversight and involvement in the day-to-day operations of the board.

Sources suggest that this restructuring could further solidify the PCB’s administrative structure, enabling more efficient management of Pakistan’s cricket affairs.

Mohsin Naqvi’s tenure as PCB Chairman has been marked by significant changes as he strives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the board’s operations.

With these adjustments, Naqvi appears committed to revitalizing the PCB’s leadership and management, aiming to implement his vision for a more robust and well-organized administration.

These moves underscore the PCB’s ongoing efforts to position itself as a stronger force in international cricket.
