Manisha and Maliha Ali, twin sisters from Hunza in Gilgit-Baltistan, have proudly represented Pakistan on the international stage by winning gold and bronze medals at the 6th Asian Taekwondo Championship in Indonesia.
Currently studying at Lahore Garrison University, the sisters showcased exceptional talent during the competition. Manisha clinched the gold medal in the over 73kg category, while Maliha secured a bronze in the 73kg category.
The 16-member Pakistani taekwondo team is competing in the championship held from October 15 to 18 at the Indore Stadium Sports Center in Tangerang, Indonesia. The event features over 275 athletes from various countries across Asia, including India, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, the Philippines, Malaysia, Nepal, and the host nation, Indonesia.
The male competitors representing Pakistan include Haroon Khan (-58 kg), Numan Khan (-63 kg), Saud Alam (-63 kg), Muhammad Arbaz Khan (-68 kg), Mazhar Abbas (-80 kg), Ikhtsham-ul-Haq (-87 kg), and Hamza Omar Saeed (+87 kg). The women’s team comprises Noor Rahman (-57 kg), Maleeha Ali (-73 kg), and Manisha Ali (+73 kg).
The team is led by Lieutenant Colonel Zeeshan Aslam, with Master Yusuf Karami serving as the head coach. Syed Sadaqat Hussain is the team manager, and Faisal Nadeem Butt is the physio.
