The PCB released their selections for the ICC World Cup Super League ODIs against the Netherlands and the T20 Asia Cup on Wednesday, withdrawing Hasan Ali and replacing him with Naseem Shah, Pakistan’s fast bowler of choice.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a 16-man roster for the three-match series against the Netherlands, and a 15-man squad for the Asia Cup, which begins on August 27.
When Pakistan triumphed at the 2017 Champions Trophy, Hasan was named the game’s most outstanding performer. However, in his past three ODIs, the 28-year-old got just three wickets for 222 runs and went wicketless in two of his three T20 internationals, he only took three wickets in two Tests in Sri Lanka last month.
He’s been called up for the Rotterdam matches as well as for the tour of England in 2021 for the one-day internationals.
ODI and T20I squads have retained Shaheen Shah Afridi, who is currently rehabilitating from a knee injury. The PCB said that the team trainer and physiotherapist would oversee his rehabilitation and make the final decision on whether or not he can return to international cricket. Selector Muhammad Wasim said the administration had only made changes to the essential team.
In conjunction with the captain and head coach, we have selected the best available players for both competitions.” Wasim stated that Hasan had been given a vacation from international cricket and that Shah had replaced him.
The players’ training camp will take place in Lahore, Pakistan, from August 6 to August 11, and will include two 50-over matches. Aug. 12 (Friday) marks the departure date for the national team to Amsterdam, while the T20I players will join the squad in Dubai on Aug. 22 for the T20 Asia Cup.
