Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi confirmed that the ongoing upgradation of the iconic Gaddafi Stadium will be completed by January 25, with a grand inauguration set for January 27.
During a media interaction at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, Naqvi expressed optimism about the timely completion of the stadium’s upgradation, which is expected to be finalized by January 25. He also shared that the official inauguration will take place on January 27, featuring several prominent personalities.
On the national cricket team’s performance during the ongoing tour of South Africa, Naqvi acknowledged the team’s difficulties following Pakistan’s defeat in the first Test and their follow-on in the second. However, he emphasized that both victories and defeats are part of the game, stating, “The team is fighting, and that’s what matters most.”
In response to concerns about the treatment of young opener Saim Ayub, Naqvi reassured that the PCB would not compromise on his medical care. Saim, who has shown great potential, will be traveling to London on Sunday morning with assistant coach Azhar Mahmood for treatment from a renowned sports doctor. “Saim Ayub is an asset to Pakistan, and we are committed to his swift recovery,” Naqvi affirmed.
