Shadab Khan, an all-rounder for Pakistan, took full responsibility for his team’s loss to Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup final on September 11 in Dubai.
For one of Pakistan’s top fielders, the final of the continental tournament, which Sri Lanka won by 23 runs, turned into a nightmare. Despite a strong start in the powerplay, Sri Lanka clawed back, and the Babar Azam-led team was unable to maintain the pressure.
Shadab, who had a head injury when Pakistan was fielding, dropped two important catches, one of which was ultimately taken for a six in the last overs. He apologised and accepted responsibility for the loss, saying in a tweet that “Catches win matches. I let my team down.”
Fan lambasted the entire team for their bad performance, but all-rounder Shadab Khan received particular criticism for dropping two catches.
The all-rounder was severely criticised by the supporters, which demoralised him. In response, he rushed to Twitter to apologise to the fans and accept responsibility for the final defeat.
Shoaib Akhtar Tweeted: “He is our best fielder. Shadab khan just having a bad day,”.
