LAHORE: A senior police officer of SP rank Abdullah failed to read the FIR in the court which annoyed the Chief Justice of Lahore High Court.
The LHC Chief Justice Justice Aalia Neelum has summoned the Inspector General of Punjab Police after expressing displeasure over the unclear wording of an FIR which the SP could not read in the court.
SP Abdullah appeared before the court during the proceedings. The police officer was unable to read the FIR registered by a subordinate police official (Moharrar).
Chief Justice Questions FIR Wording
The report said Justice Aalia Neelum expressed strong displeasure over the situation and asked the police officer to read the FIR before the court.
The Chief Justice questioned how the document could be understood when its contents were difficult to read. Justice Aalia Neelum then summoned the Punjab Inspector General of Police to appear before the court the following day.
The court also reportedly raised concerns about the language and presentation of the FIR during the hearing.
Justice Aalia Neelum was quoted as saying that the situation reflected broader problems within Punjab’s administrative and policing system.
Court Raises Handwriting Concerns
Meanwhile, the Chief Justice reportedly also criticised the handwriting used in FIRs, observing that such documents are often difficult to read.
According to the report, the court made further remarks about the appearance of the FIR’s text.
Justice Aalia Neelum reportedly compared some of the markings in the document to flies and commented on their large size. The proceedings highlighted concerns over the clarity and readability of police documents presented before the court.
