PTI to March From Peshawar to Islamabad on September 27
PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has announced that PTI workers will march from Peshawar to Islamabad on September 27. He feared that he may be disqualified or arrested before the Islamabad March.
In his first special television interview, Afridi said the protest call was final. He added that the demonstration would not remain limited to one day or location.
He said Islamabad would remain the main destination. However, Rawalpindi and Adiala Jail could also become protest points.
Afridi said PTI would announce the detailed protest plan around a week before September 27. He also clarified that the government would not use state machinery or public resources for the march.
Release of Imran Khan Tops PTI Demands
Afridi said PTI’s political leadership and Tehreek Tahafuz Aain Pakistan agreed on the protest date. Mahmood Achakzai and Allama Raja Nasir Abbas also participated in consultations.
He identified Imran Khan’s release as the march’s first demand. The second demand seeks meetings between Khan, his family, lawyers and personal doctor.
Afridi said PTI could cancel the protest if authorities removed restrictions on meetings with Khan.
He rejected violence and said PTI remained a political party rather than an armed group. He also claimed containers would not prevent workers from reaching Islamabad.
The chief minister warned that authorities might arrest or disqualify him before September 27. He said PTI had recorded a video statement for such a situation.
Afridi said his immediate focus remained the protest. He also expressed hope that 2026 would become the year of Imran Khan’s release.
