KARACHI: The Sindh Mass Transit Authority (SMTA) has issued an urgent advisory warning citizens about fraudulent schemes circulating under the name of the Pink Scooty Scheme.
According to the authority, all advertisements currently spreading on social media regarding the initiative are fake. Therefore, officials have urged the public to remain cautious and avoid engaging with suspicious links or offers. In particular, citizens have been advised not to share personal information or documents through unofficial platforms, as this could lead to identity theft or financial fraud.
Moreover, SMTA clarified that the legitimate Pink Scooty initiative is being implemented exclusively by the Sindh government. Applications, it stressed, must only be submitted through the official government portal to ensure authenticity and data security.
Earlier, the Sindh government announced the distribution of free pink electric scooters for women as part of International Womenโs Day celebrations. The initiative aims to promote womenโs empowerment by providing safe and environmentally friendly transportation.
Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said the project is designed to enhance mobility for women while also reducing environmental pollution through electric vehicles. Additionally, selected applicants will receive proper driving training and road safety awareness sessions to ensure safe usage.
The program builds on earlier efforts led by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, who previously distributed pink scooters to working women in Karachi. The event was attended by key officials, including Murad Ali Shah.
Furthermore, authorities confirmed that scooters will be allocated through a transparent balloting process overseen by a multi-departmental committee and media representatives.
To apply, candidates must visit the official SMTA website, navigate to the โProjectsโ section, and submit the EV Scooty Ballot Form with required documents.
