Sindh is preparing to introduce a facial recognition attendance system for teachers as part of efforts to strengthen monitoring in public schools. The new system, known as Frames, will begin operating in six districts from August 17. The initiative aims to improve teacher attendance and bring greater transparency to the education sector. Officials also expect the technology to strengthen school discipline and support better academic performance.
Facial Recognition System to Track Teacher Attendance
Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah approved the Frames attendance system during a meeting of the school education department. He said the technology would allow authorities to monitor teacher attendance through facial recognition.
“Under the system teachers’ attendance in schools will be monitored with facial recognition,” Murad Ali Shah said.
Education Minister Sardar Ali Shah and Chief Secretary Asif Haider Shah attended the meeting. Other officials from the school education department also participated in the session.
The chief minister described the new system as an important governance measure for Sindh’s education sector. He said modern monitoring tools could help improve transparency and institutional discipline.
“Modern system will promote transparency and effective monitoring in schools and improvement in institutional discipline and academic performance”, he said.
Sindh Completes Technical Preparations
Education Minister Sardar Ali Shah briefed the chief minister about preparations for the new system. He said data-based governance could improve education administration across the province.
According to the minister, officials have completed the technical preparations required to implement Frames. The department will now focus on ensuring smooth enforcement across the selected districts.
Murad Ali Shah also stressed the importance of effective monitoring during the initial phase. He called for adequate technical support to help schools operate the new system without disruption.
System to Expand Across Sindh
The chief minister said regular teacher attendance remains essential for improving education outcomes. He also emphasised that every child deserves access to quality education.
“Teachers’ attendance has been mandatory for better education results,” he said. “It is the right of every child to get standard education,” he added.
Authorities will initially implement the facial recognition system in six districts. If the rollout proves successful, the government plans to extend Frames to all districts in phases. The expansion could give education authorities a more reliable way to track attendance. Ultimately, the government hopes the system will support stronger accountability and improve school performance across Sindh.
