JCP Receives New List for SHC Appointments
The Judicial Commission of Pakistan has received 16 nominations for six vacant judgesโ positions in the Sindh High Court. The list has been submitted for appointments as additional judges, according to reports.
Judicial Commission member Farooq H Naek forwarded the nominations to the JCP secretary through a formal letter. The names were submitted under Clause 23 of Article 175A of the Constitution.
Judges and Senior Lawyers Among Nominees
The proposed list includes district and sessions judges, senior lawyers, barristers, advocates, and government law officers. The nominations have been submitted for consideration against the six vacant seats in the Sindh High Court.
Among the nominees are Dr Ambreen, District and Sessions Judge Karachi West, and Ghulam Shah, Sessions Judge Hyderabad. The list also includes Barrister Jamshed Malik, Barrister Baloch Ahmed Junejo, Barrister Sandeep Malani, and Advocate Zulfiqar Jalbani.
Government Law Officers Also Included
Other names proposed for the SHC vacancies include Nasrullah Korai, Dr Shahnawaz Memon, Samiullah Soomro, Ali Raza Khan, Mukesh Kumar G Karara, Ali Gul Abbasi, Muhammad Rashid Khan Mehr, Shazia Hanjra, Mohsin Shahwani, and Qazi Bashir.
According to the submitted details, Shazia Hanjra, Mohsin Shahwani, and Qazi Bashir are currently serving as government law officers. Shazia Hanjra is also serving as a Deputy Attorney General. She is the spouse of serving judge Adnan Karim.
The Judicial Commission will review the nominations before making any final decision on appointments. The process is aimed at filling key judicial vacancies in the Sindh High Court and reducing pressure on pending cases.
