ISLAMABAD: Former PTI leader Sher Afzal Marwat sparked laughter in the National Assembly after echoing the famous phrase “mujhe kyun nikala?” (“Why was I removed?”) following his expulsion from Imran Khan’s party.
As Marwat entered the assembly, typically through the opposition gate, he was seen entering via the government entrance instead, prompting desk-thumping from government lawmakers. This led the Speaker of the National Assembly to jokingly say, “Don’t get him in trouble.”
During the Q&A session, the Speaker asked Marwat to comment on the merger of mobile companies, but instead of addressing the issue, Marwat turned to his own question: “My only question right now is to my own people — why was I removed?”
His comment triggered laughter from the government benches, while PTI members remained silent. Marwat then called on the government members to support him, leading to chants like “Why was Marwat removed?” and “Oppressors, answer us! Give Marwat justice!”
PML-N’s Hanif Abbasi humorously reassured Marwat that they would stand with him and help him return to PTI.
Marwat’s expulsion from PTI came after repeated disciplinary violations, though Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has suggested that the former premier should reconsider bringing him back into the party.
