Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shaukat Yousafzai has accused former accountability adviser Shahzad Akbar of targeting the party and its leadership while living abroad.
Speaking on ARY News programme Aitaraz Hai, Yousafzai said individuals who had left Pakistan and distanced themselves from PTI should not associate their statements with the party.
He said PTI had extended considerable respect to Shahzad Akbar, including during his association with former prime minister Imran Khan. However, he alleged that Akbar was now criticising him and the party from overseas.
Yousafzai also clarified that PTI’s political alliance with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) remained limited to parliamentary matters. He stressed that cooperation on specific issues did not mean PTI endorsed every statement or position taken by JUI-F.
The PTI leader acknowledged that his party had made mistakes in the past but urged political figures to exercise caution when commenting on sensitive matters.
He further criticised overseas-based individuals for repeatedly presenting their personal views as PTI’s official position, insisting that such individuals did not represent the party.
