During proceedings at the Lahore High Court, the Punjab Advocate General disclosed that seven cells have been specifically allocated for Imran Khan, the Founder of PTI, within Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail.
Furthermore, a notable contingent of 14 security personnel has been assigned to ensure his protection. The court was also informed of special arrangements made for his meals, which are prepared in a dedicated kitchen to maintain exclusivity.
Under the stewardship of Chief Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmed Khan, the court meticulously reviewed the security arrangements concerning Imran Khan’s confinement. It was revealed that Imran Khan occupies a cell along with six neighboring cells exclusively reserved for his use, indicating a notably heightened security protocol.
Contrary to the customary ratio of one security officer per ten inmates at Adiala Jail, Imran Khan’s security detail defies this norm, with a substantial 14 officers dedicated solely to his protection. Additionally, a significant investment has been made in surveillance equipment, with CCTV cameras valued at Rs500,000 installed to monitor his surroundings.
The stringent security measures extend to the preparation of Imran Khan’s meals, which are meticulously crafted in a specialized kitchen, devoid of any other culinary activities.
However, concerns were raised by Asad Manzoor Butt, the legal representative of the petitioner, regarding restricted access to their client. The court, cognizant of the gravity of the situation, underscored the need for controlled access, acknowledging the exceptional circumstances.
In light of the complexities surrounding Imran Khan’s security arrangements, the court opted to defer further deliberations on the matter until after Eid, signifying the gravity and complexity of the issues at hand.
